Heparin inhibits H. somnus adherence to BBEC. The indicated concentrations of heparin were added to BBEC concurrently with H. somnus (30 CFU per endothelial cell) and incubated for 4 h 37°C (A) or 4°C (B). The BBEC were then washed five times with PBS and lysed, and the CFU of adherent bacteria were enumerated by plating the lysates on sheep blood agar plates.
