^aTwo doses of vaccine were given 4 weeks apart. Mice were challenged intranasally 4 weeks after the second dose of vaccine with 10⁴ CFU of B. melitensis 16M. Organs were harvested 8 weeks after challenge and cultured on brucella agar to determine CFU counts. The limit of detection was 2 CFU per organ.
