Total splenocytes and purified nontransgenic CD4+ T cells, but not CD4-depleted splenocytes, reduce MBP-specific T-cell load in the spinal cord of T/R− mice subjected to SCI. Neither wild-type animals (non Tg), nor T/R− mice submitted to mock surgery accumulated substantial numbers of CD4 cells in the spinal cord.
