DiI-oxLDL uptake by astrocytes after 24-hour exposure was measured by comparing the intensity of intracellular DiI fluorescence to that of astrocytes exposed to DiI-LDL using confocal microscopy as described in Materials and Methods. Data are expressed as percent control of DiI-LDL and are mean ± SEM for three separate experiments. Analysis of variance for all four groups was statistically significant (P<0.0001). *, P<0.001 for Bonferroni-corrected repeated pair comparisons with DiI-LDL.
