The levels of free amino acids were measured in cytosolic aat2 (blue bars) and chloroplastic aat3 (green bars) mutants and wild-type plants (white bars) using HPLC analysis. Plants were grown on Murashige and Skoog plates in continuous light or continuous dark for 7 d (n = 3). Each data point represents an extract from whole seedlings collected from different plates and is a biological replicate (n = 3). All error bars in the HPLC analyses represent sds of biological replicates.
