Expression of mt p53 decreases the steady-state level of 12/15-LO mRNA. (10)1 and (10)1val cells were plated and incubated at 37°C for 24 h before being shifted to either 39 or 32°C for another 24 h. Total RNA was extracted for Northern blotting as described in Materials and Methods. The blot first was probed with a ³²P-radiolabeled insert of the mouse 12/15-LO gene. After being stripped, the membrane was reprobed with mouse α-actin.
