SEHRS spectra of 10−8 M crystal violet on silver and gold nanoclusters by using 1,064-nm mode-locked picosecond pulses (peak intensity 1026 photons cm−2·s−1). Examples for typical nanoaggregate structures are shown in the corresponding electron micrographs at Right. The strong SEHRS effect for gold suggests the use of gold nanoaggregates as biocompatible enhancing nanoparticles for two-photon-excited vibrational probing in biological structures (28).
