Tyk2-null mice show less tolerance for exercise than wild-type mice. Age- and gender-matched wild-type (n = 23) and Tyk2−/− (n = 24) mice were subjected to exercise tolerance tests (see Materials and Methods). Mice from four different age groups (ranging from 2 to 7 months of age; each group contained a minimum of four to seven mice of each wild-type and Tyk2−/−) were subjected to running on a treadmill until they were exhausted. The time the mice were on the treadmill until they were exhausted was averaged for wild-type and Tyk2−/− mice from all the groups and expressed as means ± standard deviations (P < 0.001.).
