Female SKH-1 mice (7–8 weeks old, 10 mice per group) were housed in a cage with or without a running wheel for 2 weeks. The two parametrial fat pads were weighed, and the thickness of the dermal fat layer was measured by using an ocular micrometer with an Olympus BHTU light microscope under ×100 magnification at 5–10 representative areas per slide and averaged. Each value represents the mean ± SE. ∗, P < 0.01.
