D2 mRNA levels in the BAT were measured by real-time PCR. β-Actin mRNA was used as internal control, and the results are expressed as fold change in the mRNA ratio compared with that of controls. D2 activity is expressed as fold change versus controls. (b) VDU1 and VDU2 mRNA levels were measured as in a. Experimental animals were treated with 0.75 μg NE per 1 g body weight, and control animals received saline. Values are the mean ± SD of two to four animals. The entire experiment was performed twice.
