INX-6 shares substantial homology with other C. elegans and Drosophila innexin family members. The pileup alignment of INX-6, Drosophila melanogaster shaking-B (lethal) and the other close homologs in C. elegans was done using Clustal method. Four predicted transmembrane regions typical of INNEXINS are outlined, and the conserved cysteine residues presumably involved in maintaining the connections between hemichannels in the extracellular loops are indicated by the arrowheads. * indicates the point mutation identified in rr5.
