Equal amounts of RNA from strains JRS4 (lane a), JRS4/pJO162 (sigX expression plasmid) (lane b), JOS34 (clpP mutant) (lane c), and JOS34/pJO162 (lane d) were subjected to primer extension analysis with primers Pemm-PE (A), sigX-R2 (B), cinA-R (C), smf-R (D), and cglA-PE2 (E) and subjected to electrophoresis on a 6% polyacrylamide gel containing 7 M urea.
