Fusion of RB-resistant to RB-sensitive cells. (A) Cell fusion schema. (B) Parental C33A and SAOS-2 cells, as well as the C-C, S-S, and C-S fusions were fixed and stained with Giemsa. (C) The fused and nonfused parental cells were lysed, and equal total protein was resolved by SDS/PAGE then immunoblotted for p53 and vimentin. (D) Fused and nonfused parental cells were fixed and then coimmunostained for vimentin and p53. (E) Proliferating fused and nonfused cells were trypsinized, fixed, and then stained with propidium iodide. The DNA content of the stained cells was then determined by flow cytometry.
