NBCe1 was localized to the basolateral plasma membrane domains of proximal tubules in the renal cortex (upper panel). No up-regulation of NBCe1 staining was observed in NH₄Cl-loaded rats. No immunolabelling of NBCe1 was seen in the same rats in the thick ascending limb in the inner stripe of the outer medulla (ISOM) or other nephron segments (lower panel).
