Effects of uga mutations on GAPA::ADH and GAPA::GUS transgenes. GUS and ADH activities of AG-5G and uga mutants in 5-d-old etiolated seedlings, greening seedlings, and 4-week-old plants were determined as described in “Materials and Methods.” A, Unit of ADH enzyme is defined as an increase in A₃₄₀ of 1 min mg protein⁻¹. B, GUS activity is expressed as pmol 4-methylumbelliferone min⁻¹ mg⁻¹ protein. The data presented are the average of three independent treatments. Plants grown at different times were used for replicated treatments. For each treatment, a total of about 500 plants was pooled and used for protein extracts preparation. Error bars = sds.
