Homozygous ZmIpk-mum3 plants were crossed with the recessive lpa2-1 and lpa2-2 alleles. Ten F1 mature seeds from each ear were pooled and assayed for inorganic phosphate and phytic acid. The Pi and phytic acid are expressed as Pi P and phytic acid P (PAP), respectively. Values are means ± sd, n = 3 ears.
