Accumulation of inorganic anions in the medium of maize root segments during anoxia

The inorganic anions in the suspending medium were measured after a 6-h anoxic experiment in which root segments (1.5 g) were incubated in 10 mL of 2 mm KH₂PO₄, 0.1 mm CaCl₂ (pH 6.0). Roots were pretreated and/or incubated with 10 mm KCl or KNO₃. Each value is the mean of between three and eight replicate measurements ±se. Superscripts indicate significant differences between treatments.
