The carboxy terminus of Cx32 is not involved in the degradation upon androgen depletion. (A and B) LNCaP cells expressing full length Cx32 (Cx32-WT) and the carboxy terminus deleted mutant (Cx32-T-220) were switched to charcoal-stripped serum for 24–48 h, and degradation of gap junctions was analyzed by immunocytochemical (B, 24 h) and Western blot (A) analyses. Note that, upon androgen depletion, wild-type and mutant Cx32, as well as gap junctions composed of them, are degraded. Note also that gap junctions composed of mutant Cx32 are smaller.
