Homo- and heterotypic interaction specificities of synthetic DZFs assessed in the B2H system. DZFs from four pairs were tested for hetero- and homotypic interaction using the B2H system. Controls testing the self-interaction of wild-type DZF domains (from which C2H2 ZFs present in the synthetic DZFs were derived) were also performed. ‘- - - -' indicates a plasmid encoding either the Zif268 DBD or the RNAP α-subunit with no DZF fused. Each experiment was performed at least three times. Bars shown represent mean fold-activations of transcription in the B2H system and error bars represent standard errors of the mean. Identities of the synthetic DZFs tested are abbreviated as in Table I.
