Paraffin sections were stained with May-Grünwald-Giemsa for grading of bacterial colonization on a 0 to 4-point scale in four different regions of the stomach (antrum, body, antrum/body, and body/cardia transitional zones).
Colonization levels in the antrum are shown because they are representative of overall colonization.
Hematoxylin and eosin-stained sections were also evaluated for histopathological changes: the presence of lymphoid aggregates and lymphoepithelial lesions were graded on a 0 to 3 scale. All slides were coded and examined blind.
A diagnosis of low-grade lymphoma was made independently (M.F.D.).
Six of eight animals in group C were successfully treated.
The treatment of two of eight animals in group C was not successful.
Hf, Helicobacter felis; TT, triple therapy.
