Copy-number of R1162 in the absence (a) and presence (b) of regulation at oriT. Plasmid DNA was isolated from log-phase cells and linearized with AflIII. Cells contained pUT1309 and pBR322 (lane a) or pUT1579 and pBR322 (lane b). DNA was visualized by staining with ethidium bromide after electrophoresis through 1% agarose.
