Retinyl ester excursions and plasma triglyceride levels were measured at the times indicated in 8-week-old Ndst1^f/fAlbCre⁺ mice (n = 9) compared with wild-type siblings (n = 5) (A and B) and Ldlr^–/–Ndst1^f/fAlbCre⁺ mice (n = 7) compared with Ldlr^–/–Ndst1^f/fAlbCre^– siblings (n = 4) (C and D). Overnight-fasted animals of the indicated genotypes were given 200 μl of corn oil containing 5.4 μCi [³H]retinol by gavage. Blood samples were taken at the indicated times, and radioactivity remaining in 10 μl of serum was determined by scintillation counting in triplicate. The values are expressed as mean ± SD.
