The results are expressed as a percentage of age-matched wild-type controls demonstrating a wave of apoptosis in the mutants at P7 that was not seen at P3 (t test, **P < 0.01, n = 6). (B) Representative photomicrographs of basal forebrain sections in wild-type and mutant animals, demonstrating a number of TUNEL-positive cells (arrows) in the mutant section that is not present in the wild-type control.
