SNS mRNA is abnormally expressed in cerebellar Purkinje cells from brains obtained postmortem from patients with MS. A distinct SNS hybridization signal is present in Purkinje cells from two subjects with MS (a and b) after hybridization with a riboprobe specific for human SNS mRNA, but it was not detectable in tissue obtained from control subjects without neurological disease (c).
