In the moderate atrophy group only one case showed intestinal metasplasia (VPIM, 3.1%; mean VPIM, < 0.1). The Student's t test was used to calculate p values. Grade of atrophy: group 0, no atrophy; group 1, mild atrophy; group 2, moderate atrophy; group 3, pronounced atrophy.
