Cells were synchronized by release from a hydroxyurea block as described (2). ▴ indicates percentage of cells showing an antipodal localization of SSE1–HA₃. Samples were taken at 30-min intervals after release from a hydroxyurea block. (B) Cells from an asynchronous culture demonstrate both localization patterns. Left, two cells are shown with DAPI staining; the brightly staining bodies are the kinetoplasts. Right, the same cells were immunolocalized with antibody to SSE1–HA₃; one cell shows an antipodal localization of SSE1–HA₃, and the other cell shows a lack of fluorescence above background.
