Effects of chronic administration of resveratrol on the colonic damage score. Colonic macroscopic damage resulting from trinitrobenzene sulphonic acid (30 mg per animal) instilled into rat colon was scored as indicated in Methods. Scores were quantified in the absence of treatment, but with daily administration of the vehicle saline solution (sham group, trinitrobenzene sulphonic acid group and ethanol group), or in the presence of resveratrol (R: 10 mg kg⁻¹ day⁻¹).
