MPO activity (U × 103 mg−1 tissue) and TNF-α levels (pg mg−1 tissue) after resveratrol (R: 10 mg kg−1) in rats with chronic colitis produced by TNBS intracolonic instillation (30 mg per animal). Colonic mucosal MPO activity and TNF-α levels were quantified in the absence of treatment, but with daily administration of the vehicle saline solution (sham group, trinitrobenzene sulphonic acid group and ethanol group), or in the presence of resveratrol (10 mg kg−1 day−1).
