Apoptosis was observed in the colonic mucosa after acute colitis induced by TNBS (30 mg per animal). Apoptosis were quantified in the absence of treatment, but with daily administration of the vehicle saline solution (sham group, trinitrobenzene sulphonic acid group and ethanol group), or in the presence of resveratrol (R: 10 mg kg−1 day−1).
