Table 1.

Clinical data of blood pressure, heart rate, intraocular pressure, and calculated ocular perfusion pressure at baseline and after 2 weeks of treatment (mean (SD))

Brinzolamide Placebo
Baseline Drug Baseline Placebo
Systolic blood pressure (mm Hg) 120 (17) 118 (13) 117 (9) 120 (12)
Diastolic blood pressure (mm Hg) 73 (11) 71 (8) 70 (7) 72 (9)
Heart rate (beats/min) 66 (9) 69 (9) 67 (11) 66 (14)
Intraocular pressure (mm Hg) 12.3 (2.0) 9.4 (2.2)* 13.2 (1.6) 12.3 (2.2)
Ocular perfusion pressure (mm Hg) 46.2 (8.2) 47.8 (5.4) 43.2 (5.0) 45.7 (6.0)

Apart from a significant decrease of intraocular pressure after brinzolamide no significant differences between visits were detected in both groups (ANOVA for repeated measures).
