Experimental set up used to simulate the effect of eye movements on letter perception during eccentric fixation. The subjects were asked to look alternately at the two dots and, while making these movements, to report any perceptual changes they had of the eccentric letter. The phenomenon described can be experienced by the reader by shifting fixation from one dot to the other while viewing the figure at a distance of 20 cm.
