(A) SR-BI immunogold labelling of an Epon section from a mucosal explant, cultured for 60 minutes in the presence of lipid. Labelling was seen in nascent lipid droplets (LD), associated with the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), as well as in a large cytoplasmic lipid droplet (*). (B) Immunogold labelling for aminopeptidase N in a similar Epon section. The enzyme was seen at the microvillar surface (MM) and in the apical tubulovesicular compartment (TVC), but the lipid droplets (*) were devoid of labelling. Bars 0.5 μm.
