 Rectal distension intensity and reduction in total brain activation by amitriptyline. Amitriptyline use was associated with reduced total brain activation during auditory stress and rectal distension. The reduction was substantially greater for painful level distension (50 mm Hg) than for lower levels of distension (p<0.05 v 15 and 30 mm Hg distension).
