Table 1.

Number of sequences with palindromic (P) segments of 2–8 bp in length downstream/upstream of the VH, diversity (D) and JH gene segments. The P segments were found using JointMLa, which allows P nucleotides to start at the end of the gene segment irrespective of the amount of trimming. P-values are calculated using Fisher's exact test. Similar results were obtained using JointHMMa (data not shown)

All positions up to 10 bp from the heptamer were analysed. No statistically significant differences were found except for at untrimmed ends.
