Effect of mAb to GXM on IL-1R expression on T cells. Monocytes (1×10⁴) were incubated with or without encapsulated C. neoformans (E : T ratio 1 : 2) in the presence or absence of mAb to GXM (10 µg/ml). After 2 hr the monolayers were washed to remove unbound compounds and autologous T cells (1×10⁵) were added in the presence or absence of anti-CTLA-4 (Fab′)₂ (2·5 µg/ml). After 5 days of incubation T cells were harvested. Surface IL-1R expression on T cells was analysed by flow cytometry. Control samples were treated with isotype control antibody (irrelevant mAb) and a FITC-conjugated anti-rat IgG or with secondary mAb alone (NS=not stimulated). The results are the mean±SEM of three separate experiments. Statistical significance for the indicated pairs of data were determined by use of Student's paired t-test.
