Peripheral blood monocytes (PBM) and alveolar macrophages (AM) pulsed with MT extracts specifically attract PMNs and monocytes. PBM (a) and AM (b) were cultured overnight in the lower chamber of a Transwell with or without MT extracts (e.g. BCG WC or H37Rv WC or H37Rv CF); after that, ⁵¹Cr-labelled PMNs, monocytes and resting and IL-2-activated T cells were seeded in the upper chamber. After 3 hr migrated cells were recovered from the lower chamber, lysed, and counted in a gamma-counter. Results are expressed as percentage of cells out of the total cell input. Data are representative of three independent experiments, each performed in triplicate.
