E. coli BW25113 was grown to an OD600 0.8–0.9 in M9 medium in the absence (control) or in the presence of 1 mM polyamine (PUT, SPD, SPM) or 1 mM polyamine analogue. ODC activity and protein levels were determined as described in Materials and Methods. Specific activities are expressed as μmol 14CO2 liberated/mg enzyme protein/h of incubation. The values represent the means ± SD from two separate experiments.
