^aSpores of strains PS832 (wild type) and FB62 (ΔgerD) were prepared using various media. The spores were purified, and aliquots of various dilutions of spore suspensions with an OD₆₀₀ of 1 (1 × 10⁸ to 2 × 10⁸ spores/ml) were spotted on LB medium agar plates. The plates were incubated for 48 h at 37°C, and colonies were counted. Values shown are the averages of duplicate determinations.
