Echocardiographic analysis of wild-type and 14-3-3τ+/− mice after myocardial infarctiona,b

Genotype (nc) SWMSI (1 day) EDV (7 days) (mm3) EDVI (7 days) (mg) ESV (7 days) (mm3) EF (7 days)
Wild type (12) 1.40 ± 0.03 70.7 ± 7.2 3.05 ± 0.41 47.3 ± 7.7 38.1 ± 5.4
14-3-3τ+/− (11) 1.37 ± 0.03 105.1 ± 12.3 3.80 ± 0.40 78.9 ± 11.7 28.3 ± 3.2
a

Twelve-week-old awake mice underwent transthoracic echocardiography 1 or 7 days after experimental myocardial infarction by ligation of the left coronary artery. SWMSI, segmental wall motion score index (an SWMSI value of 1 indicates normal wall thickening, whereas an SWMSI score of 2 indicates cardiac akinesis). EDV, end diastolic volume; EDVI, end diastolic volume index (end diastolic volume/body weight in mg); ESV, end systolic volume (mm3); EF, ejection fraction.

b

P values were as follows: for SWMSI, 0.37; for EDV, 0.022; for EDVI, 0.20; for ESV, 0.03; for EF, 0.14.

c

n, number of mice studied.
