(A) LePentR50 was a pentamidine-resistant promastigote cell line selected from wild-type L. enriettii (Le) by gradually increasing the pentamidine concentration in the culture medium to 50 μg/ml. (B) Ld39 and Ld2001 were L. donovani clinical isolates known to be resistant to SSG. Wild type L. enriettii (Le) and L. donovani (LdAG83) were included for comparison. Percentage survivor was determined by MTS essay.
