Relationship between CO₂ assimilation and FNR levels. Photosynthesis was measured in FNR antisense (black symbols) and overexpressing (white symbols) transgenic plants at 400 μmol mol⁻¹ CO₂ and 2,000 μmol quanta m⁻² s⁻¹. CO₂ assimilation velocities were normalized with respect to the average wild-type rate (half black/half white symbol), and FNR levels of the various lines were normalized with respect to the average wild-type level.
