Butyrate modulates receptor mRNA expression in HT-29/p cells. Cells were treated with 5 mm butyrate for 24 h prior to extraction of RNA and RT-PCR analysis. After pretreatment with butyrate, cells were treated with IL-1β for various time-points before RT-PCR for IL-1RI. Band intensity was analysed semiquantitatively by densitometry and related to the expression of β-actin. Two more experiments gave similar results. ▪, 0 h;
