Antagonism of anti-TGF-β antibody against the effects of serum from oral tolerized rats on IL-1 and TNF production by synoviocytes of AA rats in vitro. Sera in portal vein were obtained from rats treated orally with CII 50 µg/kg daily or vehicle for 7 days. Synovial cells (5 × 105/well) obtained from AA rats were cultured for 48 h in 24-well plates containing DMEM with 10% FCS and 5 µg/ml LPS in absence or presence of the different serum (1 : 10) or anti-TGF-β antibody (10 µg/ml). Supernatants were collected for IL-1 and TNF measurement. ‘+’ represents ‘added’, ‘–’ represents ‘not added’.
