Effect of peritoneal dialysis fluid on C4 secretion. Quiescent HPMCs were incubated with serum-free M199 medium, or glucose-free PDF, or PDF of various glucose strengths, or equivalent solutions supplemented with 10% FBS for 4 h or 24 h. Culture supernatants were harvested for C4 ELISA. The glucose concentrations of 1·5%, 2·5%, and 4% solutions are 83 mm, 138 mm, and 220 mm, respectively.
