Activated total (CD3CD56+CD69+), bright (CD3CD56+brightCD69+), and dim (CD3CD56+dimCD69+) NK cells in NR versus SVR patients. NR patients (black vertical lines) had more activated (CD3CD56+CD69+) NK cells as a percentage of total CD3CD56+ cells and activated dim (CD3CD56+dimCD69+) cells as a percentage of total dim (CD3CD56+dim) NK cells in the absence of IFN-α stimulation than SVR patients (black horizontal lines) (P = 0·04 and P = 0·05, respectively). IFN-induced activation of CD3CD56+ NK cells and dim (CD3CD56+dim) NK cells tended to be greater in SVR patients (grey horizontal lines) compared to NR patients (grey vertical lines) (P = 0·10 and P = 0·10, respectively). Error bars represent standard error.
