Whole blood cultures were stimulated for 20 h with or without 100 ng/ml of lipopolysaccharide (LPS), peptidoglycan (PGN) or Staphylococcus aureus enterotoxin B (SEB). Each dot represents data from an individual experiment. The percentage of CD14^dimCD16⁺ monocytes were determined by flow cytometry and TNF-α was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) on the supernatants from the same cells.
