P. piscicida cultures established from different environmental isolates and in different laboratories demonstrate the same signature pattern. The same pattern is evident in assays of DNA extracted from filtered water samples collected from the Neuse River, NC in July, 1998 (NR-3) and the Chicamacomico River, MD, (MD-29) in September, 1997 during fish-kill events.
