Micrographs of J774 cells infected with the wild-type strain or the plcBΔpro mutant. Infected host cells were washed at 30 min postinfection. Gentamicin (50 μg/ml) was added to the medium at 1 h postinfection and maintained until the end of the experiment (top row) or removed at 3 h postinfection (bottom row).
