Thymocyte numbers after E + P treatment. (A) Distribution of the relative numbers of thymocytes separated by CD4 and CD8 expression after 12 days of E + P treatment. Both wild-type- and PRKO-treated and untreated thymuses showed essentially identical distributions of cells among the four compartments, in spite of the significant loss of cells that had occurred in the wild-type-treated thymus because of thymic involution. (B and C) Relative (B) and absolute (C) numbers of CD25 and/or CD44 expressing triple negative thymocytes after 12 days of E + P treatment. PR appears to exert its effect at the transition from the CD44+CD25+ stage to the CD44CD25+ stage.
