Effect of human α-internexin expression on HTLV LTR in cotransfection assays. Approximately 1 × 105 HeLa (A) and SW13 (vim-) (B) cells were independently transfected with 0.5 μg of HTLV LTR CAT, 0.25 μg pTax, and increasing amounts of human α-internexin as shown by using the CaPO4 method. pcDNA3 was used as filler DNA to equalize the amount of DNA for each transfection. Forty-eight hours posttransfection, cell extracts were prepared and CAT assays were performed as described in Methods.
